Novena for the Poor Souls in Purgatory ~~ Day 8 ~~

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

Eight Day
Another bitter sorrow of these souls is caused by the reflection that God had distinguished them by so many graces not granted to others, and that they compelled Him, by their sins, to condemn them to these sufferings, and that they had deserved hell, and were pardoned and saved only by the mercy of God.

O my God! I also am one of these ungrateful beings, having received so much grace, and yet despised Thy love and deserved to be cast by Thee into hell.
But Thy infinite goodness has spared me until now.
Therefore, I now love Thee above all things, and I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee.
I will rather die than ever offend Thee. Grant me the grace of holy perseverance.
Have compassion on me and, at the same time, on the holy souls suffering in Purgatory. Mary, Mother of God, come to their aid with thy powerful intercession.
Say The Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Prayer to Our Suffering Saviour for the Holy Souls :

O most sweet Jesus, through the bloody sweat which Thou didst suffer in the Garden of Gethsemane, have mercy on these Blessed Souls. Have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer during Thy most cruel scourging, have mercy on them. R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in Thy most painful crowning with thorns, have mercy on them. R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in carrying Thy cross to Calvary, have mercy on them. R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer during Thy most cruel Crucifixion, have mercy on them. R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in Thy most bitter agony on the Cross, have mercy on them. R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the immense pain which Thou didst suffer in breathing forth Thy Blessed Soul, have mercy on them. R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

( Here recommend yourself to the Souls in Purgatory,
and mention your prayer intention to obtain through this Novena.)

Blessed Souls, I (we) have prayed for thee; I (we) entreat thee, who are so dear to God, and who are secure of never losing Him, to pray for me a miserable sinner (us miserable sinners), who is (are) in danger of being damned, and of losing God forever. Amen.

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

Seventh Day
A further great sorrow of these holy souls consists in their ardent desire for the beatific vision.
Slowly and painfully the moments of their purgatorial imprisonment pass by; for, they love God deeply, and desire to be delivered from their sad prison in order to praise Him forever.

O God, Father of Mercy, satisfy this their ardent desire!
Send them Thy holy Angel to announce to them that Thou, their Father,
are now reconciled with them through the suffering and death of Jesus,
and that the moment of their deliverance has arrived.

Novena for the Poor Souls in Purgatory ~~ Day 6 ~~

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

Sixth Day
The holy souls are, indeed, comforted by the recollection of the passion of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Sacrament of the Altar, since they know they are saved by the passion of Jesus Christ, and have received, and still receive, so much consolation from Holy Masses and Holy Communion. Nevertheless, they are greatly pained by the recollection of their ingratitude for these two great gifts of the love of Jesus Christ.

O my Divine Redeemer, Thou didst die for me on the Cross, and hast so often united Thyself with me in Holy Communion, and I have repaid Thee only with ingratitude.  Now, I love Thee above all things, O supreme God; and I am more grieved at my offences against Thee than at any other evil. I will rather die than offend Thee again. Grant me the grace of holy perseverance. Have compassion on me, and, at the same time, on the holy souls suffering in Purgatory.

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

Fifth Day
Another great suffering is caused these holy souls by the ignorance of the time of their deliverance.
They are certain of being one day released, yet the uncertainty of the time when their purgatorial term will have ended gives them great pain.

Woe to me, unhappy being, if Thou, O Lord, hadst cast me into hell;
for from that dungeon of eternal pain there is no deliverance.
I love Thee above all things, O infinite God and I am sincerely sorry for having offended Thee again.
Grant me the grace of holy perseverance. Have compassion on me, and, at the same time, on the holy souls suffering in Purgatory.
O Mary, Mother of God, come to their assistance with thy powerful intercession

Novena to Poor Souls in Purgatory ~~ Fourth Day ~~

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

Fourth Day

The pain that still more afflicts these holy souls, the spouses of Jesus,
is the thought of having, during life, displeased by their sins that God Whom they so ardently love.
Some penitents have felt so much pain and sorrow in thinking of having, by their sins,
offended so good a God, that they died of grief. The souls in Purgatory understand far better than we do,
the claims that God has to our love; they love Him with all their strength.
Hence, at the thought of having offended Him during life, they experience pain that surpasses all other pain.

O my God! because Thou art infinite goodness, I am sorry with my whole heart for having offended Thee.
I promise to die rather than ever offend Thee more.
Give me holy perseverance; have pity on me, and have pity on those holy souls
that burn in the cleansing fire and love Thee with all their hearts.
O Mary, Mother of God, assist them by thy powerful prayers.

Amen.

Novena to Poor Souls in Purgatory ~~ Third Day ~~

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

Third Day

Another great pain of the holy souls is caused by the hideous vision of their guilt, for which they now suffer. In this life the hideousness of sin is not seen as in the life to come; and this is one of the greatest sufferings of Purgatory.

O my God! because Thou art infinite goodness,
I love Thee above all things, and repent with my whole heart of my offences against Thee.
Grant me the grace of holy perseverance. Have compassion on me, and, at the same, on the holy souls suffering in Purgatory.
And thou, Mary, Mother of God, come to their assistance with thy powerful intercession.

Novena for the Poor Souls in Purgatory ~~ Day 2 ~~

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

Second Day

The second pain which causes these holy souls much suffering, is the time lost in life, when they might have gained merits for Heaven; and the thought that they are unable to repair this loss, because the time of life and merit is passed.

Woe to me, unhappy being, so many years have I already spent on earth and have earned naught but hell! I give Thee thanks, O Lord, for granting me time even now to atone for my sins. My good God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee. Send me Thy assistance, that I may apply the time yet remaining to me for Thy love and service; have compassion on me, and, at the same time, on the holy souls suffering in Purgatory. O Mary, Mother of God, come to their assistance with thy powerful intercession.

Novena for the Poor Souls in Purgatory ( written by Saint Alphonsus Mary de Liguori )

The following Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is said after the particular prayers for each day of the novena, which follow.

First Day

Manifold are the sufferings which those blessed souls must endure, but the greatest of all is the reflection that their sins in life are the cause of their present torments.

O Jesus, my Saviour I have so often deserved to be cast into hell , how great would be my suffering if I were now cast away and obliged to think that I myself had caused my damnation. I thank Thee for the patience with which Thou hast endured me.
My God, I love Thee above all things and I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee because Thou art infinite goodness. I will rather die than offend Thee again. Grant me the grace of perseverance. Have pity on me and at the same time on those blessed souls suffering in Purgatory. Mary, Mother of God, come to their assistance with thy powerful intercession.

Say The Our Father, Hail Mary, and
the Prayer to Our Suffering Saviour for the Holy Souls :

O most sweet Jesus, through the bloody sweat which Thou didst suffer in the Garden of Gethsemane, have mercy on these Blessed Souls. Have mercy on them.

Blessed Feast of the Most Holy Redeemer ( Salvator Mundi )

The Feast of the Most Holy Redeemer is found only in the special calendar of some dioceses and religious orders, and is celebrated with proper Mass and Office either on the third Sunday of July or on October 23 . By concession of Pope Benedict XIV, dated March 8, 1749, the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer solemnizes this feast as a double of the first class with an octave on the third Sunday of July. The same congregation also keeps the feast as a greater double on October 23 and February 25, and has, besides, the privilege of reciting once a month the votive office of the Most Holy Redeemer .

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of all mankind. From what misfortune did He free us? The mystery of original sin and man’s enslavement to the influence of the demons, is the key to the other mysteries of our religion, although it is the most difficult for us to grasp. (Cf. Book of Job)

Our Lord has re-established man in a state more enviable than that of our first father, Adam, who until his sin was the possessor of remarkable gifts and immortality. With Job we can say: “I know that my Redeemer liveth,” for we have known Christ and His doctrine, and we possess Him in His Sacrament of love. The evils from which He has delivered us are both of the present life and of the future life, if indeed we cooperate with His plan for our salvation. The evils of the present life are those which affect the body, sickness and death, and those which affect the soul. Of these latter — the more important — first of all is ignorance. Before Christ came, this ignorance was so great, the darkness so thick, that men had reached the point of no longer knowing what it was most important for them to know — their origin, their nature and their future destinies. The second evil of the soul is concupiscence, that crowd of bad inclinations which make us all tend toward evil and often carry us into it. Thirdly, we have to bear a hereditary burden of sin — first, original sin, in which we are all conceived; then actual sins, into which concupiscence leads all men to a greater or lesser degree.

But Jesus has delivered His faithful Christians, and all who so desire. He has delivered from ignorance by revealing to us the truths we must believe to be saved, and by teaching us through His holy Church, the continuing work of Redemption. He has delivered us from concupiscence by actual graces, which if they do not extirpate all bad inclinations, at least give us the strength to overcome them and tame them. And God can well say to us, as He once said to Saint Paul, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” (I Cor. 12:9) And there is no sin for which Jesus has not earned our pardon, if we ask for it. Do not the sacraments of Baptism and Penance have the power to take away every sin, even if they should be as numerous as the hairs of our head, and redder than scarlet?

We are not delivered from the exterior power of sin’s chastisements affecting the body, but Jesus has made it possible to convert them into blessings, for He has won for us the strength to bear them with patience and sanctify them by submission to the holy Will of God, and thereby to make of them a very great source of merits. Death itself will not dominate us forever. After having felled us, it will be victim in its turn, for Christ will raise us up some day, as He raised Himself up, and then we will die no more. Let us say in our hearts, an unending “Thank You” to our Redeemer.( Source: Les fêtes chrétiennes, by Canon R. Turcan )

Novena to Christ the King ( Oct. 21 ending Oct. 29, vigil of the Feast of Christ the King)

Today is time to pray and start Novena to Christ the King , Oct. 21 ending Oct. 29, vigil of the Feast of Christ the King .
We all know that a novena is nine days of special and focused prayer . I see this as a time to focus our prayers toward areas of struggle in our lives and world, and to recognize that we are in a spiritual battle.

Let us faithfully and devoutly pray :

Lord Jesus , Thou didst declare that Thy Kingdom is upon the earth, but not of the earth; it is a spiritual, supernatural Kingdom, the Kingdom of Truth. It fights with the power of conviction, and conquers by this means the hearts that by right belong to It. Thou Thyself art witness to this Truth, and Thou Thyself art the Truth.

Jesus, I believe that Thou art truly a King because Thou hast come into the world to institute among people the rule of God; every person who is of the Truth, who believes in God and recognizes His authority in human affairs, owes Thee a loyal and undivided allegiance and "hears Thy voice."

As a Catholic I am a member of Thy Kingdom, and Thou art my King. To Thee I owe loyalty, obedience, and love. Help me to carry out these most sacred duties toward Thee. I wish to be "of the Truth " that is "a child of God" and gladly to hear Thy voice and follow Thee in all things. I accept Thee as my King and submit to Thy authority.

Reign supremely in my heart and in my life. Thy reign is heavenly Peace; Thy law is Love. Help me to pray and work that Thy Kingdom may come into every soul, every family, every nation.

Jesus, since I honor Thee as my King, I come to Thee with great confidence, asking Thee to grant this special prayer intention, if it be Thy holy Will:

(here our prayer intention).

Lord Jesus Christ, my King, I adore Thee as God the Son, and through the prayers of Thy most loving Mother I beg of Thee, send me from out of the abundance of Thy loving Heart the grace of the Holy Ghost in order that He may enlighten my ignorance, purify and sanctify my sinful heart, and confirm me in Thy holy love.
This I request through the love of the Father and the Holy Ghost, through Thine infinite mercy, and through the merits of all Thy Saints. Amen.

Consecration

Christ , Jesus, I acknowledge Thee as King of the universe. All that has been made has been created for Thee. Make full use of Thy rights over me.

I renew the promises I made in Baptism when I renounced satan and all his pomps and works. I promise to live a good Christian life. Especially, I undertake to help, to the extent of my means, to secure the triumph of the rights of God and of Thy Church. Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee my poor efforts so that all hearts may acknowledge Thy sacred Royalty and the Kingdom of Thy peace may be established throughout the entire universe. Amen.

Novena to Saints Jude Thaddeus and Simon the Zealot , Apostles and Martyrs

O God , we thank Thee for the glorious company of the Apostles, and especially on this day for Simon and Jude; and we pray that, as they were faithful and zealous in their mission, so we may with ardent devotion make known the love and mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with Thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

O Glorious Saint Simon, you were a cousin of Jesus and a devoted follower as well. You were called "the Zealot," indicating that you were willing to give your life for your religion and your freedom as a human person. Obtain for us the grace to be willing to give our lives for Christ and to labor for the freedom and peace that only God can give. Help us to spend ourselves for God on earth and be received by him in eternal bliss in heaven. Amen.

Glorious Saint Jude, with faith in your goodness I ask your help today. As one of Christ's chosen Apostles, you are a pillar and foundation of His Church on earth. You are among the elders who stand always before God's throne.
Saint Jude, you are renowned for your kinship with Christ and your physical resemblance to our Savior. Help me remain close to Christ and resemble Him in my outlook and actions.
Holy Apostle, you are venerated for your work of preaching the gospel and your faithfulness to Christ by a martyr's death. Assist me to preach the good news of Christ by word and example, and remain steadfast in His service as you were.
From your place of glory, do not forget the needs and difficulties of Christ's little ones like me, still struggling on the way home to God. Pray for me that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly (name special problem) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever.
Intercede for us all, gracious, brother Saint Jude, and pray for us to the Lord our God in our daily toil and our necessities. Amen.

Novena to Saint Archangel Raphael ( October 24 )

Let us faithfully and devoutly pray :

Glorious Archangel Saint Raphael,
great prince of the heavenly court,
Thou are illustrious
for thy gifts of Wisdom and Grace.
You are a guide of those who journey
by land or sea or air,
consoler of the afflicted,
and refuge of sinners.
I beg thee ,
assist me in all my needs
and in all the sufferings of this life,
as once thou helped
the young Tobias on his travels.
Because thou are the medicine of God,
I humbly pray thee to heal the many infirmities
of my soul and the ills that afflict my body.
I especially ask of thee the favour
(our prayer intentions here...)
and the great grace of purity
to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Amen

St. Raphael,
of the glorious seven
who stand before the throne of God
who lives and reigns,
Angel of health,
the Lord has filled thy hand
with balm from heaven
to soothe or cure our pains.
Heal or cure the victim of disease.
And guide our steps when doubtful of our ways.Amen

Everyday with Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill my heart with Your holy gifts. Let my weakness be penetrated with Your strength this very day, that I may fulfill all the duties of my state conscientiously, that I may do what is right and just. Let my charity be such as to offend no one, and hurt no one’s feelings; so generous, as to pardon sincerely any wrong done by me or to me. The Holy Cross Prayer

Holy Cross Prayer

This prayer was found in the sepulcher of the Lord Jesus in the year 1709 and was sent by the pope to Emperor Charles on the eve of his departure to fight his enemies and by him sent to St. Michael in France. When this prayer is in the house, the house will be safely guarded from thunder and lightning and whoever reads or hears this prayer it will never be burned drown nor will any poison have effect. It will never be a prisoner of war or will ever be vanquished. When a woman has labor pains let her wear this prayer and she will immediately be delivered, and when a child is born, place this prayer on the right side and it will be safely preserved of all accidents. If someone having fits, put this prayer on the near side and he will be cured “Whoever carries this prayer, it will never have any epileptic attacks whoever writes this prayer to himself and for others. I will bless. But Whoever scoffs or laughs at it will be doomed” says the Lord. Whoever reads This prayer daily will be warned by a Holy sign three days before death. Let us pray the Holy Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Novena to Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque

Simply we'll pray the Rosary for nine days, offering it up to St. Margaret Mary to ask her intercession by beginning with this prayer :

Saint Margaret Mary, you who were made a partaker of the divine treasures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, obtain for us, we beseech you, from this adorable Heart, the graces we need so sorely. We ask these favors of you with unbounded confidence. May the divine Heart of Jesus be pleased to bestow them upon us through your intercession, so that once again He may be loved and glorified through thee. Amen.

Pray for us, O blessed Margaret Mary;
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.

O Lord Jesus Christ, who wondrously opened the unsearchable riches of You Heart to blessed Margaret Mary, the virgin: grant unto us, by her merits and our imitation of her, that we may love You in all things and above all things, and may be worthy to have our everlasting dwelling in the same Sacred Heart: who lives and reigns, world without end. Amen.

Then we follow with the specific of the day Rosary .
God bless you all praying !

Nada te Turbe ~~ May nothing disturb you!

(St. Teresa of Avila had these verses written in her breviary**)

May nothing disturb you.
May nothing astonish you.
Everything passes.
God does not go away.
Patience
can attain anything.
He who has God within,
does not lack anything.
God is everything!*

Blessed and most happy Feast of Guardian Angels

~~ may you all experience their presence and guidance in your life ~~

O pure and happy spirits
whom the Almighty selected to become the Angels
and Guardians of men.
I most humbly prostrate myself before thee
to thank thee for the charity and zeal
with which thou dost execute this commission.
Alas, how many pass a long life without ever thanking their invisible friends,
to whom they owe a thousand times their preservation!

O charitable Guardians of those souls for whom Christ died,
O flaming spirits,
who cannot avoid loving those whom Jesus eternally loved,
permit me to address thee on behalf of all those committed to thy care,
to implore for each of them a grateful sense of thine many favors
and also the grace to profit by thine charitable assistance.

O Angels of those happy infants who are as yet "without spot before God,"
I earnestly beseech thee to preserve their innocence.

O Angels of youth, conduct them,
exposed to so many dangers,
safely to the bosom of God,
as Tobias was conducted back to his father.

O Angels of those who employ themselves in the instruction of youth,
animate them with thy zeal and love,
teach them to emulate thy purity and continual view of God,
that they may worthily and successfully
co-operate with the invisible Guardians of their young charges.

O Angels of the clergy,
of those "who have the eternal Gospel to preach to them that sit upon the earth,"
present their words,
their actions and their intentions to God,
and purify them in that fire of love that consumes thee.

O Angels of the missionaries who have left their native land
and all who were dear to them in order to preach the Gospel in foreign fields,
protect them from the dangers which threaten them,
console in their hours of discouragement and solitude,
and lead them to those souls who are in danger of dying without Baptism.

O Angels of the infidels and pagans,
whom the True Faith has never enlightened,
intercede for them,
that they may open their hearts to the rays of grace,
respond to the message delivered by God's missioners
and acknowledge and adore the one true God.

O Angels of all who travel by air,
land or water,
be their guides and companions,
protect them from all dangers of collision,
fire, and explosion and lead them safely to their destination.

O Guardian Angels of sinners,
charitable guides of those unhappy mortals
whose perseverance in sin would embitter even thine unutterable joys,
wert thou not established in the peace of God!
Oh join me, I ardently beseech thee,
in imploring their conversion!

And thou, O Guardian Angels of the sick,
I entreat thee especially to help,
console and implore the spirits of joy
for all those who are deprived of health,
which is among God's most precious gifts to man.
Intercede for them,
that they may not succumb to despondency
or lose by impatience the merits they can gain
in carrying with resignation and joy the cross
which Christ has laid upon them as a special token of His love.

O Angels of those are at this moment in the agonies of death,
strengthen, encourage and defend them
against the attacks of their infernal enemy.

O faithful Guides, holy spirits,
adorers of the Divinity,
Guardian Angels of all creatures,
protect us all;
teach us to love, to pray, to wage combat on earth,
so that one day we may reach Heaven
and there be happy for all eternity!

Amen.

O Angels of those who are lingering in Purgatory,
intercede for them that God may permit thee
to bring them some balm;
console them that they may know that we are praying for them
and that we ask thee to join in our entreaties. Amen

Let us always remember the Poor Souls

Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, for those in my own home and in my family. Amen

Prayer for the Conversion of Scandinavia

300 Days, once a day. (See Instructions.) 54 Leo XIII, April 18, 1885.

O good Jesus , prostrate at Thy feet, we humbly implore Thee, by thy most Sacred Wounds and by the Precious Blood which Thou didst shed for the salvation of the whole world, that Thou wouldst deign to cast a look of pity on the peoples of Scandinavia, seduced from the Faith for so many centuries, and plunged in the darkness of heresy, separated from thy Church, deprived of the participation of the adorable Sacrament of thy Body and Blood, and of the other sacraments instituted by Thee, as the refuge of souls in life and in death.

Remember, O Redeemer of the world, that for these souls too Thou didst suffer bitter death, with the loss of all thy blood. Bring back, O good Shepherd, these wandering sheep ofthine to the one fold and to the healthy pastures of thy Church, so that they may form with us one flock , tended by Thee, and by thy Vicar on earth, the supreme Pontiff, whom, in the person of the Apostle St Peter, Thou didst commission to feed thy sheep and thy lambs. Graciously hear, O good Jesus, the prayers which we offer Thee with the most lively trust in the love of thy Sacred Heart, and to thy most Holy Name be praise, glory, and honor, world without end. Amen.
